Looks like the defense called the Ginormous Dirty Trick. That's a whole lotta player right there!

Ginormous

Ginormous is one of the Dirty Tricks the players can use in Mutant Football League. It is only accessible to the defense.

Abilities[ | ]

Ginormous causes the controlled player to become giant for a temporary period of time. Ginormous players can crush and severely injure opponents simply by walking over them and can make the ball carrier instantly fumble the ball. Their huge size also makes an effective screen for passes; it's tough for a quarterback to throw around a Ginormous player. They cannot be brought down by a tackle animation while Ginormous, though hits and field hazards can still hurt and kill them. If the user switches players, the previously-controlled player returns to normal and the new user-controlled player becomes Ginormous.

Counterplay[ | ]

On passing plays, you can't throw the ball away (as that will trigger a penalty for Unnecessary Cowardice). You need to find some way to scramble out of the way or make a bona fide attempt at a pass. If the Ginormous player is to one side of the field, throw to the other side if you can.

On running plays, running out of bounds preserves the best chance to minimize damage and retain possession.

On special teams, counterplay is very difficult. For punts, try to force the returner into a bad spot with traps. If you have a suspicion it's coming, aim the punt out of bounds before the snap. On field goals and extra points, there is little else to do except hope the kick gets a chance.

Penalties[ | ]

There are no penalties for using Ginormous. However, an active Bribe Ref can cancel out any turnover this dirty trick causes.

Manual[ | ]

Description from the Official Game Manual:
Whatever defensive player the user is controlling when this play is called will immediately grow to an enormous size when the ball is snapped. The “Ginormous” player will have a hit power rating boost and cause massive damage to any opposing player he comes into contact with. This effect lasts for the duration of the play or until the giant sustains enough damage.

Trivia[ | ]

  • This Dirty Trick is strikingly similar to the Expansion Jutsu from Naruto.
  • One of the lines Grim has when this play is called has him say "Fe fi fo fum", referencing the fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk.
